Dr Peter Bye-Jensen
Heritage & Public Engagement Manager
Peter is a trained archaeologist and heritage professional with vast experience in historical research, applied archaeological investigation and public engagement.
He has worked within the heritage sector and the academic world for over 20 years with his experience ranging from exhibition design; archaeological fieldwork from Qatar to Britain; illicit whisky smuggling and early legal historic distilling of Scotland; to recording recent history with local communities.
Peter is passionate about everything relating to heritage as he believes that this is the foundation for understanding where we are now and which way we are heading into the future.
" An archaeologist by training, with a passion to discover the human stories behind our past, present and future, I was drawn to the Moray region and Dufftown over many years, finally relocating my family in 2018. For me, Truerlein has a visionary approach to heritage, in that heritage, sustainability, and ecology are all tightly woven into the fabric of the
Dufftown: a New Dawn. The team recognises the power of local culture and traditions to drive sustainable economic regeneration of a town and is investing in local community engagement in a very tangible way – one that puts the region’s rich heritage at the heart of a prosperous future. I am thrilled to be part of this inspirational team and look forward to the journey ahead. "
